This is ONLY for SPHS Students. DO NOT DO THESE ASSIGNMENTS IF YOU'RE FROM OSCEOLA!
******* AVOID TRITE OR CLICHE ART AND SUBJECT MATTER. DO ORIGINAL WORK!!!! DO NOT COPY SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS! *********
Assignments below can be done with any materials. If your project is not permanent or is too fragile be sure to take pictures to document the process and end product. ***Any projects with size restrictions should have some sort of measurement in the photos. Experiment with materials - think outside the box - what could you use that isn't considered traditional art materials? ALWAYS consider the Elements of Art and Principles of Design when setting up your composition. Try to avoid centering your subject matter. Think about the Rules of Thirds!
-Life Sized Self Portrait - can be done using any materials and in any pose. Try to get creative with your pose - maybe an extreme angle like laying down and a view from your feet or reaching for something showing foreshortening.
-Landscape or Architecture - create a mixed media work of art depicting a landscape or a building. Consider using unusual materials - something wet, something dry, something collaged.
-Observational Still Life - set up a still life with non-traditional subject matter (avoid vases and decorative objects) - think more like a view of your closet with shoes and clothing everywhere or making breakfast and cracking eggs in a pan or the mess left after hanging out with friends or cooking a large meal...
-Choice Project - create one other piece of your choice.
-Photos - your work will most likely be inspired by your own life experiences or observations. Try to document your summer by taking as many pictures as you can. Ask friends to be your models.
