- Find a couple pieces of artwork that you like and you think you might be able to recreate. If you can take a screen shot or find a picture of the image online. Write down the artist's name and if you can find the title of the artwork too. You have to be able to identify which artwork it is. I want to see the original and your creation when you turn it in!!! Photo Project: You will need to recreate at least TWO works of art using only what you have at home. You could utilize your family members, your pets, or any objects sitting around that resemble things in the artwork. Try to think about the setting and background as much as the actual main objects in the artwork. Try to match the colors or patterns or find something similar to them. Also think about the lighting! How to Submit Your Images: For this project I want your peers to see your work. I will set up a new channel on TEAMS for our classes to submit your photos. This is going to be a contest of sorts as well as a group critique so make them GOOD!!!! Please click on the slides below to view your first photo assignment Due Friday April 3rd.3/30/2020 ![]() Our school is putting on a play about the sideshow at circuses and they want poster designs to hang in the hallway for the performance. I want you to use yourself or someone you know as a model and create a photo collage or illusion coming up with some sort of side show character. I would encourage you to try to come up with something original and I want the poster to be very similar in design to what you would see for advertisements for a circus. Do some research! Think about the whole scene. Do not simply shoot these images in your house if your house has nothing to do with the character and where they would be. I have pinned a bunch of examples on Pinterest HERE. If you choose to do so, you could submit a photo for a regional and national art competition. Students who get a gold medal at the national level get a free trip to New York, NY in June 2020. You would want to pick your best work only.
Using any trinkets or toys that you have at your disposal, you will photography these smaller items in a scenery that can be edited to appear real and life size. You may need to build a diorama or work on some sort of set design and photography several images to use for your final. After taking your photos, you will need to use Photoshop to edit your original image to make it appear to be more real: using filters, adding elements you might not have had for props, etc. See the examples below for inspiration: Every year we participate in art shows within the county and the Museum of Art in St. Petersburg has a Visual Metaphor student art show every year. The visual metaphor show focuses on an emphasis on the creative and original design for the visual representation of a common metaphor like: couch potato, I'm being eaten up alive, my head is spinning, rollercoaster of emotions, the old ball and chain, skeletons in the closet, you're a piece of meat, I'm cracking up, etc.
In Photography you have the option to expand being the traditional photo. You can combine photos in a photo collage, do mixed media by printing images out and painting on top or sewing on top, printing images on alternative paper options like tea bags... etc. You want to focus on originality and creativity for this project. Try to avoid very basic solutions to the problem as we do these projects every year. If you are in Portfolio, I encourage you to do two of these projects. Each year we participate in county wide art shows. This year's Word & Image show has the theme: "I wonder...". You will create a creative writing piece with a visual using any photo techniques you know how to do to go with the theme I Wonder... You can use photo collages, optical illusions, a single shot, a comic book style page, photo overlays, playing with filters, etc. to create your final piece. The writing should be no longer than a page long. It could be a poem or a short story about what it is you wonder about.
